Scenery is joining a larger platform
We are thrilled to tell you that we have decided to join forces with a larger platform to help realize our vision of creating a collaborative, AI-powered video creation product. We can’t yet say where we’re going, but we can say that they share this vision, and this decision gives us the best opportunity to help make our vision a reality at scale.
How We Got Here
We started working on Scenery in mid-2020 with the vision that all creative applications could ultimately exist as native web apps with the inherent advantages of the web (collaboration, centralized content management, and distribution). We assembled a passionate team that iterated the product from a multiplayer canvas into a powerful, feature-rich timeline and collaborative editorial workflow.
Then AI happened, and we saw an opportunity to leverage LLMs to create magical editing assistants and integrate AI deep into our editing workflows. The product you see today is the result of the team’s obsession for building solutions for our customers, who were critical in helping us evolve Scenery into what it is today.
While we love the product we’ve built and serving our customers, we have the opportunity to combine our experience and team with a world-class creative company that can help us achieve new heights.
To our customers, we can’t begin to express our gratitude for your support in our journey to build Scenery into what it is today. Your early feedback and belief in what we were trying to create motivated us to do some of the best work of our careers. To our investors, especially our board member Josh McFarland and board observer Dave Samuel, an enormous thank you for believing in us and our vision and for your unending support.
What to Expect from Here
We have made the difficult decision to cease work on the scenery.video website in order to accelerate our combined work. To our remarkable customers who believed in us, we are indebted to you. We want to ensure that you have a seamless experience transitioning to alternative services. Starting today, here's how we can help you with this transition:
- Support: Our team will be available to support you until Oct 27th. If you need help, please reach out right away, and we will do our best to facilitate.
- Website access: You will be able to log in and access Scenery until November 18 to give you time to finish your projects and export all of your content. Support will be limited after October 27th so if you need help, please start this process immediately.
- Please review our Help Docs for more information or message the team directly this week.

What happens to my content and projects in Scenery?
Please begin transitioning your content and projects out of Scenery right away. We’ve created several articles that can guide you through the process efficiently. After November 18th, you will not be able to access any content in Scenery and all of your content and projects will be deleted.
Can I use Scenery projects in other editors?
Scenery timelines can be exported as XML files and imported into other NLEs. See how to do that here.
What happens with any pre-paid fees?
We are refunding pro-rata amounts for any prepaid plans automatically. Please look for those credits using your payment method.
Any customers on Scenery pro plans with payment dates after Oct 21st will no longer be charged, and you can continue using Scenery for free until the shutdown date.
What should I do with my source media?
We recommend using alternative cloud storage such as Google Drive, Dropbox or Frame.io. We’ve secured a discount code for Scenery customers wishing to transition to Frame.io; use this link for a 6-month free trial of the Frame.io team plan with 3 TB of storage and up to 15 users.
